Citric acid – belongs to the group alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), easily dissolves in water, naturally occurs in plants and animal organisms. It has a keratolytic (exfoliating) effect, due to which it removes blemishes and lightens the skin. In cosmetics, it plays the role of a pH regulator and also complexes metal ions, thanks to which it increases the durability of the cosmetic.
